Hello and welcome to my new website and blog! That’s right, I’m blogging! Everything is so upside down so why not we bring back BLOGS?! I’m sure I’ll write more about this another time. Anyway.
I also posted this on Instagram but felt that it needed its own blog post. I remembered I wanted to talk about something before the month is over. Okay, (deep breath) 10 years ago, in the summer of 2010 (July, to be exact, according to an old article from Racked AND my gmail history…) a new shoe rolled into town. A big, ol’ CHONK shoe of life courtesy of Jeffrey Campbell called the Lita, named after Lita Ford, that was pretty much a knockoff of the Charles Anastase Dungeon boot. If you were of a conscious mind back then, you might remember this ICONIQUE-at-the-time shoe. It came in every single color and pattern you could think of and soon turned into THEE footwear of choice for many fashion bloggers of the era.
Man, what a time that was. Below is an excerpt from an old blog post in which I ranted about these shoes.
I’m not even sure why i was so mad at them; I love a big ol’ clodhopper platform! Maybe I was “tired” of seeing them everywhere. Lita exhaustion, if you will. I now want to take the time to personally offer an olive branch to the Lita and all Lita lovers out there in the world. I am sorry for judging you when you wuz only trying to have fun with the fashions. I should have instead applauded you for being able to walk around in those muthas. Here are some gold Litas that are available RIGHT NOW.
It’s only right that I point out how last year I bought Frankenflops and some big ol’ platform mock-Crocs as a “joke.” (Both shoes I had also made fun of years ago.) Maybe it’s time to let bygones and be bygones and buy some golden Jeff Campbell Litas just to FEEL something in these trying times. I’ll need a walking stick to get around (in my apartment) wearing these though. Should they replace the lucite heels as the shoe I wear when I finally ride upon my Segway throne? Nah, let us not get TOO carried away. If you owned or currently own Litas, please do let me know.
