Heh-heh-hello! (Parker Posey in Party Girl voice.)
I’m Marie, a writer and editor born and raised in Southern California by a Filipina mom and an Italian dad. I have over a decade of experience in digital media, focusing mainly on beauty, fashion, and pop culture. My work can be seen in PAPER, I-D, The Cut, ELLE, Bustle, Fashionista, Refinery29, Racked, and more. I’m currently freelance, but prior to that, I was the Senior Beauty and Fashion Editor at HelloGiggles where I built the beauty vertical from the ground up. I was also the Beauty and Style Advice Columnist for Rookie Magazine and have been a news writer at The Cut and Jezebel. Before I wrote professionally, I had a mildly successful fashion blog (I prefer the term “cult classic”) called Agent Lover, and worked in the petroleum industry…which seems to shock everybody. I can do it all!
Speaking of, I love writing about everything from bowl-cuts to UFO cults, and have interviewed a variety of celebs from John Waters to Chrissy Teigen (and wrote PAPER cover stories on Christina Aguilera and Katy Perry).
In my spare time, I co-host Fishnet Flix, a podcast about costume design and fashion in film, and run a food blog called The Bloodfeast, which is inspired by period cravings (non-bleeders are also welcome!). If you can’t already tell, I’m not a minimalist and I hate the color beige.
Contact me at hello[at]marielodi.com if you’d like to work together or just want to gossip! (Oh, and if you’re wondering what my current hair color is, it’s blonde with extreme quarantine roots! I tell myself it’s very “’80s Madonna” to make myself feel better.)
